Hoey Moves Up In National Rankings
Ranked No. 13 In Latest Golfstat Cup

LONG BEACH, CA-- Long Beach State junior Kay Hoey (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) has moved up in the collegiate national rankings. Hoey is currently ranked No. 13 in the country in the latest Golfstat Cup Women's Standings and No. 26 in the women's collegiate rankings released by Golfweek. Hoey has played 22 rounds of golf this season and has a scoring average of 72.50. She recently won the individual title at the Peg Barnard California Collegiate with a 134 (65-69). The tournament was the third this season, and the fifth overall in her 49er career.

"Kay is now ranked #13 in the country in Golfstat," said 49er Head Women's Coach Sue Ewart. "She has been working very hard on her game and it is now beginning to reap the benefits. Her goal all along has been a return to the National Championships in May and I believe that she is right on track at this point. With the Big West Championship next in line, her sights will be set on winning the individual title along with helping her team win the conference championship, both for the first time. Kay is in the running against Selanee Henderson of UC Irvine for Big West Player of the Year award so it should be an exciting tournament to watch as the two battle it out head to head."

The 49ers begin play at the Big West Championship on Monday, April 23. The tournament will take place at the Tijeras Creek Golf Course in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA.
