Carter posts the third-best indoor triple jump in the country (52'7.25"), as he looks for his second-straight All-America certificate after reaching the national championship during the 2007 outdoor season. Both athletes own school-records in their events, as this is their last season, indoor or otherwise, of competing. The last indoor All-American for the 49ers came in 2000 when Tayyiba Haneef, now with the U.S. National Volleyball Team, was sixth in the high jump. The rest of the 49ers will head to the Ben Brown Invitational hosted by CS Fullerton on the campus of Mt. SAC. The hammer throw and long distance events will be on Friday and the rest of the competition on Saturday. The 49ers began the season last week when they competed at the UCLA Invitational with their throwers and jumpers. Jennifer Onyeabako finished in the top-10 in three throwing events, including the fourth-best hammer throw in LBSU history, while Robert Jennigns posted the seventh-best mark in the discus. |
