Figueroa Named All-BWC

Figueroa Named Second Team All-Big West FULL CONFERENCE TEAM (PDF) IRVINE, CA-- Long Beach State guard Karina Figueroa (Corona) was named second team All-Big West, as voted on by the conference's coaches. Figueroa, who leads the team in scoring at 16.5 points per game will lead the sixth-seeded 49ers (7-22) into the Big West Tournament on Wednesday against UC Irvine at aproximately 2:30 p.m. Figueroa, who leads the conference in scoring in Big West games and ranks third overall, has hit double digits in 19 straight games heading into the tournament. Figueroa is coming off a career-best 29 points in her last contest against UC Irvine, in which she had 20 points in the second half. The 49ers enter the tournament having won two of three, with Figueroa hitting 29 points in each of the two victories. This is Figueroa's second all-conference award, as she was named honorable mention last year by earning a spot on the All-Freshman team last season. |
