Shaw and Smith Score Personal-Best's in the Javelin
Gray Qualifies for Two Sprints in Saturday's Finals

PALO ALTO, CA-- Alex Shaw tossed a personal-best and scored another regional qualifier in the javelin, while Patrick Smith had a personal-best in the javelin on the men's side and Brent Gray qualified for the finals of the 100 and 200 meter races to highlight the 49ers at the Stanford Invitational on Friday.

Shaw's mark of 158'4" finished second on her fourth throw of the competition, while Smith finished fourth. Gray finihsed fifth in the 200 meter (21.35) and sixth in the 100 meter race to qualify for Saturday's finales. Jessica Branker finished eighth in the 100 meter race to qualify for the finals as well.

Kellen Boaz finished fifth in the "B" shot put with a mark of 49'11.75", while Rebecca Adams was fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 5'11.5". Ezra Kwong won the "B" discus with a personal-best 170'6".
