49ers Finish 5th At Western Intercollegiate
Brett Lederer Finishes In Sixth Place

SANTA CRUZ, CA-- The Long Beach State men's golf team finished tied for fifth place at the 61st Annual Western Intercollegiate at the Pasatiempo Golf Course in Santa Cruz, CA. The 49ers shot a 304 in Tuesday's final round to finish with a three-round score of 868. Purdue won the team title with an 849 while California came in second at 864.

Individually, 49er senior Brett Lederer tied for sixth place overall with a one-over 211 (67-66-78). Freshman Michael Drake tied for 17th place with a 216 (70-74-72) and Ryan Wood tied for 36th place with a 220 (72-69-79). Winning the individual medalist honors was Xavier's John Streibich who shot an 11-under 199 (67-69-63). He tied two tournament records with his final round of 63 and his 199 total. He was one of two players with a hole-in-one, hitting his on the fifth hole with a 4-iron.

"As many good breaks as we got yesterday, that's how many bad breaks we got today," said 49er Head Men's Golf Coach Bob Livingstone. "Which can happenon a tough course in tough conditions. Overall, we're very happy with our performance on the first day, which proves that we can play with all of these teams."

The 49ers will next be in action on April 2-3 when they compete at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at the River Course at the Alisal in Solvang, CA.
