Espinosa Earns Second POW Nod of the Season IRVINE, CA-- Long Beach State shortstop Danny Espinosa (Santa Ana/Mater Dei HS) was named the Big West Player of the Week for the second time this season, as the sophomore led the Dirtbags to wins over No. 15-ranked UCLA and California. Espinosa batted .545 for the week, producing multi-hit games in the team's first two games of the week, while driving in five runs. The Dirtbags, at 8-4, vaulted up the national rankings on Monday, ranking No. 18 in Baseball America and remaining No. 20 in Collegiate Baseball for the third-straight week. Espinosa is batting .319 on the season with a team-best 11 RBIs. LBSU is off this week and return to action starting on March 9 when they begin a seven-game road trip, starting at Arizona State. |
