THE RECORDS
•49ers Play At Pacific On ESPN2
Long Beach State improved to 19-7 on the year after a 102-77 win over UC Davis on Saturday at the Walter Pyramid. The 19 wins eclipses last year's win total of 18 (18-12). The 49ers are in the midst of playing four games in eight days before the Big West Tournament. Pacific is 11-15 overall and 5-6 in the Big West after a 76-73 loss at Cal State Northridge on Saturday afternoon.
THE COACH
•22-8 Last Two-Plus Seasons In February And March
Larry Reynolds (UC Riverside, 1976) is 58-82 (.414) in his fifth year as the head coach at Long Beach State. Overall, Reynolds is 168-117 (.589) in his ninth year as a collegiate head coach. Since February 3, 2005, the 49ers are 22-8 (.733) in the months of February (16-6) and March (6-2).

•49ers Lead Pacific Series, 47-32
The 49ers snapped a seven-game losing streak to Pacific with a 92-64 win over the Tigers in the Walter Pyramid on February 3. The 49ers lead the all-time series by a 47-32 count. Long Beach is 14-21 all-time in Stockton and have lost their last four games at the Spanos Center. The last win came on February 14, 2002, a 77-63 49er victory.
49ERS ROUT THE AGGIES
•Beach Shoots .667 From Field
The 49ers shot a season-high .667 (42-63) from the field and ran away with a 102-77 win over UC Davis on Saturday night. Aaron Nixon had 27 points, Kejuan Johnson 19, Kevin Houston 16 and Sterling Byrd 15 for the victorious 49ers. Johnson and Houston both dished out six assists. The 49ers also forced 20 Aggies turnovers. UC Davis cut a 52-38 halftime deficit to 54-47 by opening the second half with a 9-2 run. But Long Beach responded with a 15-0 run over the next three minutes to open up a 69-47 lead with 14:32 left. The 49ers were also 10-14 (.714) at the free throw line and 8-14 (.571) from three-point range.
MONDAY'S GAME ON ESPN2
•"Big Monday" Broadcast
The 49ers game on February 26 at Pacific will be televised live on ESPN2 as a part of their "Big Monday" package. The game will be shown at 9 pm Pacific Time. The 49ers are 18-16 all-time in games televised on the ESPN family of networks (ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU). The last game on ESPN featuring the 49ers was the 2006 Big West Championship game against Pacific, where the 49ers fell 78-70. The last regular season game on ESPN was February 3, 2001 as the 49ers lost at home to UC Irvine 58-57 on ESPN2.
BEACH CLINCHES #1 SEED AT TOURNAMENT
•49ers Hold A Three-Game Lead In Lost Column
With losses on Saturday by Cal State Fullerton and Pacific, Long Beach State clinched the #1 seed at the Big West Tournament, and no worse than a tie for the Big West title. Long Beach is 9-2 in league play with three games remaining. CS Fullerton finished 9-5, while Cal Poly and UCSB both stand at 7-5. Since the 49ers swept the season series with all three of those teams, the 49ers would win any tie-breaker should they lose their final three conference games. The win also gives the 49ers a spot in the NIT, if they don't win the Big West Tournament title. Long Beach State has not won a Big West regular season title since 1996 when they went 12-6. In 2000 the 49ers were 15-1 in the West Division, but that was when the league was split into two divisions. Those are the only two first place league finishes since 1977 (29 years). The 49ers won eight consecutive league titles from 1970 to 1977.

•Tigers Stand 5-6 In Big West
Pacific is 11-15 overeall and 5-6 in the Big West after a 76-73 loss at Cal State Northridge on Saturday. In that game Solomon HorseChief had 15 points and Michael White 14. On the year, sophomore Anthony Brown leads UOP in scoring at 14.5 points per game. He also adds 7.3 rebounds per game while shooting .534 from the field. Steffan Johnson is averaging 9.5 points and 3.8 assists per game off the bench. As a team the Tigers are averaging 68.0 points per game and shooting .456 from the field. Tiger opponents are averaging 70.8 points per outing while shooting .476 from the field.
OFFENSIVE NUMBERS
•49ers Hit 102 Points Vs. UC Davis
The 49ers hit 100 points for the first time this season on January 4 when they racked up 101 points in the win over UCSB. This past Saturday the 49ers scored a season-best 102 points in the win over UC Davis. Last year the 49ers hit the century mark three times en route to averaging an NCAA-best 83.3 points per game. Long Beach has put up some impressive numbers in Big West Conference play thus far. The 49ers lead the league averaging 86.5 points per game in conference outings. The 49ers have scored 90 or more points in five of their 11 league games and they have hit 80 or more points eight times. Overall the 49ers are averaging 79.2 points per game.
THREE-POINT STREAK
•169 Games And Counting
The 49ers have connected on at least on three-pointer in every game Larry Reynolds has coached at Long Beach State (140 games). The 49ers have hit at least one three-pointer in 169 consecutive games, dating back to the 2001-02 season. The last time Long Beach State didn't hit a three in a game was in the 2001-02 season opener against Western Michigan (11/15/01) where The Beach was 0-9. Last year the 49ers finished 21st in the nation averaging 8.53 made three's per game. Their 256 three's in 2005-06 were a new school record, shattering the old mark of 200. This year the 49ers have hit 218 three's (8.38 per game). The 218 treys is number two all-time at Long Beach State.

•Shoot .524 vs. CS Fullerton
The 49ers are shooting well from beyond the three-point line in conference action. Long Beach is shooting .410 (114-278) from three-point range in Big West Conference games, tops in the league. Against CS Fullerton on January 18 the 49ers were 11-21 from long-range for a season-best .524 percentage. In the win over UCSB on January 4 the 49ers shot .515 (17-33) from beyond the arc. The 17 made three's tied a school-record. Long Beach had hit double digits in made three-pointers 11 times this season and all 11 of those efforts have come in the past 19 games. Overall the 49ers are shooting .368 (218-593) from three-point range on the year. Last year Long Beach connected on .355 (256-721) of its long-range attempts.

Since beginning the season at 2-4, including losses to nationally-ranked UCLA, Air Force and USC all away from home, the 49ers have won 17 of their last 20 games. Since losing at Temple on December 2, the 49ers rolled off a nine-game win streak and a five-game streak. The 49ers are 7-2 in true road games since the loss at Temple.

•Fewer Turnovers Than Opponents
Through the first 26 games of the season the 49ers have committed less turnovers than its opponent 19 times. The 49ers are 15-4 when they commit less turnovers than their opponent. The 49ers have hit 218 three's this season, the second-most in school history. Last year Long Beach set a school-record by hitting 256 treys. Individually, Aaron Nixon has hit 62 three's this year, a mark which ranks No. 8 on the 49er single season chart. Sterling Byrd's 46 three's is No. 18 and Kejuan Johnson is tied for No. 19 with 45. The school-record for three's in a season was set last year by Jibril Hodges with 87.
FIRST MEETING WITH PACIFIC
•49ers Win 92-64 At Walter Pyramid
The 49ers picked up their second biggest win ever over the University of the Pacific on February 3, winning 92-64 in the Walter Pyramid. Sterling Byrd had 22 points, Aaron Nixon 16 and Kevin Houston 14 as the 49ers shot .571 (32-56) from the field and were 11-24 from three-point range. The 49ers had a season-low five turnovers, while forcing 16 Tigers miscues. Anthony Brown led UOP with 18 points, he was the only player to hit double digits. The 49ers led 29-14 with 7:16 in the opening half before Pacific used a late run to pull to within 40-29 at the half. Long Beach opened up the second half with a 16-1 run in the first four minutes to take control of the contest at 56-30.
RICKS DOUBLE'S UP
•Third Double-Double This Year
Senior Dominique Ricks has three double-double's this season. On February 8 at Cal Poly he had 17 points (a season-high) and 12 rebounds. On February 1 vs. CS Northridge he had 13 points and 12 boards. His first double-double this season came on November 15 vs. San Jose State with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Ricks is currently averaging 7.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. He leads the team with 83 offensive rebounds. Of his 12 rebounds at Cal Poly, seven were on the offensive glass. He leads the Big West in offensive rebounding (3.19).
NIXON GOES FOR 35
•Third 30-Plus Game In 49er Career
Senior Aaron Nixon put up a career-high 35 points vs. UCSB on January 4, his third 30-plus outing as a 49er. Last year at UC Davis (2/25) he scored 33 points and against CS Fullerton in the Big West Tournament quarterfinals he scored 31 points. The 35 point outing tied for 17th-best on the LBSU single game chart. The school-record for points in a game is 45, set by Ed Ratleff vs. Saint Mary's on December 10, 1970.
THREE TIMES IS A CHARM
•Nixon Has Three Game-Winners To Credit
49er senior guard Aaron Nixon has proven that when the game is on the line, get the ball in his hands. Last Saturday at UCSB he hit the game-winning shot with four-tenth's of a second left as the 49ers won 68-67. On December 22, 2006 at Loyola Marymount, he hit a 35-footer at the buzzer lifting the 49ers to a 66-65 win. Nixon has knocked down two game-winning three-point shots at the buzzer to lift Long Beach State to victories. His first game-winner came on March 10, 2006 in the semi-finals of the Big West Tournament as he knocked down a three from the far corner lifting the 49ers to a 75-73 victory.
WIN STREAK
•Tenth-Best In History
The nine-game win streak the 49ers had earlier this season tied for 10th best in 49er history. The last time the 49ers won nine games in a row was during the 1989-90 campaign under Joe Harrington. The streak ran from Feb. 12 through March 10. The streak ended on March 11 with a 92-74 loss to UNLV in the Big West Tournament. The school-record streak is 19 games set during the 1969-70 season under Jerry Tarkanian.
DOWN THE STRETCH
•49ers Closing Out Games
The 49ers are 13-0 when leading at the half and 2-1 when tied at the half. But, when leading a game with five minutes remaining, the 49ers are a perfect 17-0. In six of their seven losses the 49ers were behind with five minutes remaining, with four of the deficits being in double digits. Against Air Force the game was tied 52-52 when the clock hit five minutes remaining.
COMING FROM BEHIND
•49ers Trailed At Half At Cal Poly And UCSB
The 49ers are 4-6 this season when trailing at the half, and two of those wins coming on their most recent road trip. Thursday (Feb. 8) the 49ers trailed 38-34 at Cal Poly before winning 80-77. The 49ers trailed at UCSB 38-28, before winning 68-67. The other two wins were against Manhattan (32-30) and UMBC (23-22). Long Beach is also 2-6 when trailing with five minutes left.
HOUSTON RANKS NO. 5 ALL-TIME
•Moves Ahead Of Lucious Harris
Senior point guard Kevin Houston has recorded a team-high 112 assists this season and stands No. 5 on the 49er career chart for assists with 396. He moved past Lucious Harris into the number five spot. Currently standing in the No. 4 spot is Ed Ratleff with 410 assists. Houston has set a single season personal-high for himself with those 112 assists this season. He garnered 98 assists in each of the past two seasons after distributing 88 as a freshman in 2003-04. Houston needs two more assists to move into the 49er single season Top 20 list for assists. Holding down the number 19 spot with 114 assists are Brian Camper (1992-93) and Dave Shutts (1980-81).
HOME COOKING
•Beach 11-1 At Home This Year
The 49ers are 11-1 at home this season and had won their last 12 games (dating back to last season) at the Walter Pyramid until falling to Hawai'i on February 17. Long Beach is averaging 86.8 points per game at home. Since February of 2005, the 49ers are 26-5 (.839) at home. Overall in the Walter Pyramid, Long Beach State is 113-59 (.657). The 100th home win came on February 15, 2006 vs. CS Fullerton.
DOUBLING UP
•Six Players In Double Digits
In the win at UC Davis (12/28) the 49ers had six players hit for double digits, a season-high. January 20 vs. UC Riverside they did it again (Houston 17, Ricks 15, Nixon 14, Johnson 12, Dawson 11, Byrd 10). Last year the 49ers had one game where they had seven players tally double digits, and that was on February 18 at Manhattan (Hawkins 25, Houston 17, Johnson 16, Hodges 14, Darby 13, Nixon 11, Dawson 10).
ROAD WINS
•Seven True Road Wins This Year
The 57-53 win at Maryland-Baltimore County (Dec. 3) was the first "true" road win for the 49ers this year after they had dropped their first three on the road. After winning at Cal Poly and UCSB last week and at CS Fullerton on Wednesday, the 49ers are 7-5 on the road and 1-1 on neutral sites (11-1 at home). Last year the 49ers lost their first six road games before they downed Cal Poly 79-66 on January 9. Long Beach went 8-1 in true road games from January 9 through March 4 of last season, finishing 8-7 on the road and 2-1 at neutral sites (Big West Tournament).

Only five teams have shot .500 or better from the field against the 49ers this season. Hawai'i shot a season-best .560 (28-50) from the field against the 49ers on February 17. But, overall the 49ers have held six opponents below .400 and five more below .450. Overall, opponents are shooting just .437 from the field.

In Big West Conference games the 49ers have turned up its offense. Long Beach is first in league games in scoring (86.5), scoring margin (+11.4), three-point field goal percentage (.410), three-point field goals made (10.36), and turnover margin (+3.82).
