Named To Academic All-District First Team LONG BEACH – Senior Alexis Crimes was named to the ESPN the Magazine/COSIDA Academic All-District First Team as announced by the national committee today. As a member of the first team, Crimes is now eligible for Academic All-American status to go along with her chance to become a four-time All-American. A 6-3 middle blocker from Rancho Cucamonga, Crimes has put together another solid season in her final year with the program, leading the team in kills and hitting percentage while rating in the conference’s top five in kills per game and blocks per game. She was also named the National Player of the Week this past week, and has been named the Big West Player of the Week two times. She has also made her mark in the career record books at Long Beach State. In blocking, she stands behind only Danielle Scott in block assists and total blocks, and is just one solo block away from becoming just the fourth 49er to reach 100 solo blocks. Offensively, her 1,602 kills now rank fourth in program history, behind three of Long Beach State’s four National Players of the Year in Tara Cross, Scott and Antoinnette White. Crimes’ academic credentials are strong as well. A Criminal Justice major with a 3.26 GPA, Crimes is a two-time Big-West Academic All-Conference selection, and has been named a 49er academic all-star four times. With her selection to the first-team in District VIII, Crimes is now
eligible for the national ballot for Academic All-American. That team
will be announced on November 28.
