49ers Head to Air Force Invite

49ers Head to Air Force Academy for Meet LONG BEACH, CA-- Long Beach State Track and Field will continue its indoor season when they travel to Colorado Springs to compete in the 16th annual Air Force Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Highlighting the 49ers will be All-American Chris Richardson, who posted a mark of 13'9.25" at Reno's National Pole Vault Summit on January 20. Richardson, who finished third in the outdoor decathlon last spring, is making his debut in the indoor heptathlon. All told, LBSU will take 11 women and 10 men to the meet. Also slated to be sent skyward are Jennifer Onyeagbako, who threw the seventh-best shot put in school-history last week in New Mexico and who last year finished second at the state junior college championships in the discus, and Big West Champion pole vaulter Jill Reynolds. On the men's side, Big West 400-meter champion, Charles Lewis and last week's star, Brent Gray, who set the school-record in the 60-meter race, will compete in the sprints, while outdoor All-American Ronald Carter, will try to return to the NCAAs one last time. The trio of Robert Jennings, Ezra Kwong and David Sampson will also compete, each holding a top-three mark in an indoor weight event. Teams slated to compete at the meet are: Air Force, Colorado, UCCS, Colorado State, Fresno State, Furman, Long Beach State, Northern Colorado, Utah State, Western State, Wichita State and Wyoming. CSU has won nine of the last 10 meets. |
