Musina Signs Financial Aid Agreement
June 7, 2006 LONG BEACH, CA -- Long Beach State women's basketball head coach, Mary Hegarty, announced that VALERIYA MUSINA has signed a Financial Aid Agreement, and will enroll in classes at Long Beach State for the 2006-07 school year. Musina spent two seasons at Louisville, and will be able to compete athletically as a junior in the 2007-08 season.
"We're excited to add Valeriya to our program," said Hegarty. "She has tremendous vision and play making abilities, while making everyone on the court around her better. She can play any position, inside/outside, one thru five."
Musina was the youngest member of the U18 Russian National team, while in high school. That team won the U18 Championship in August 2004. As a member of the U16 Russian National team, Musina averaged 8.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. She Scored 15 points against Belarus, and dished out a career-high 10 assists against Croatia in the U16 semi-finals. She was selected as the Most Outstanding Player of the International Tournament in France in the summer of 2003.
The 49ers went 18-10 last season and were the Co-Big West Conference Champions. |
