Longoria Earns Two More All-America Honors

Longoria Awarded Two More All-America Honors LONG BEACH, CA-- Long Beach State third baseman Evan Longoria (Downey) was named an All-American by two other publications on Tuesday, earning second team honors by Baseball America and third team accolades by the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association. Previously, Longoria was a third team selection by Collegiate Baseball. Longoria, who was the third overall pick of the Devil Rays in last week's June Draft, will begin his professional career on June 20 with Hudson Valley of the Short-Season, New York-Penn League. He will spend approximately 10 days with the club before moving up to Visalia in the California League following the Single-A league's all-star break. Longoria, the co-Big West Player of the Year, batted .353 with 11 homers and 43 RBIs as a junior for the Dirtbags in 2006. In other Dirtbag news, reliever Brett Andrade signed a free agent contract with the Indians. |
