49ers Announce 2006 Schedule

49ers Release 2006 Tentative Schedule LONG BEACH, CA-- After producing its best season to date, Long Beach State women's soccer (12-5-3 in 2005) will open up the 2006 season with a roadtrip to the Pacific Northwest to take on Oregon on August 25 and Portland State on August 27. The Beach will spend much of the pre-season schedule on the road, playing nine of its first 11 games away from George Allen Field, traveling to Oregon (August 25, 27), NCAA finalist UCLA on September 3, Northern Arizona (September 15, 17) the University of San Francisco (September 8, 10) and Eastern Washington (September 22, 24). One game will be televised on the Fox Soccer Channel, a first for the program under second-year Head Coach Mauricio Ingrassia, on Wednesday, October 25 at CS Fullerton. The only non-conference home games are Southern Utah (September 1), and Fresno State (October 11), while Pacific (September 29), CS Northridge (October 1), UC Irvine (October 22) and UC Riverside (October 29) round out the six-game home schedule. The team reports in early August and has a scrimmage at home against Azusa Pacific on August 19. LBSU begins conference play at home against Pacific on September 29. The four-team Big West Tournament is schedule for the weekend of November 3. |
