Whitman Hired as Full-Time Coach LONG BEACH, CA-- Following a record-breaking season, Long Beach State women's soccer promoted Wendi Whitman to the team's first assistant position, taking over for Eddie Soto, who returned to his alma mater and to be an assistant on the men's soccer team at CS Fullerton. This past season, the 49ers produced its best season to date, going 12-5-3, appearing in the national top-25 for the first time in school-history, and producing the program's first all-regional and national all-freshman selections. Midfielder Hayley Bolt was invited to train with the U20 U.S. National Team, also a first for the program under second year Coach Mauricio Ingrassia. In goal, freshman Liz Ramos set the single-season record for goals against average (0.66) and shattered the career record for shutouts (10.5). Whitman is currently in her second year on the coaching staff, serving as the team's goalkeeper coach for the previous two seasons. Whitman has also served as the Head Girl's Goalkeeper Coach for the Southern California section of the Olympic Development Program since 2003. Whitman was a member of the nationally prominent Stanford women's soccer team from 1996 to 2000. |
