49ers At NCAA West Regionals Kay Hoey Ties For 11th Place

AUBURN, WA-- The Long Beach State women's golf team (No. 30 in Golfstat, No. 31 in Golfweek) finished in 17th place at the 2006 NCAA Division I Women's Golf West Regionals. The tournament was held at the Washington National Golf Course in Auburn, WA. Long Beach shot a 318 in Saturday's final round to finish with a three-day score of 950. Purdue won the regional title with an 881 while UCLA came in second at 887.
Individually, sophomore Kay Hoey shot a one-over 73 today and finished tied for 11th place with a 222 (72-77-73). Beth Holtermann tied for 76th place wtih a 239 (78-80-81) and Josefine Lindbergh tied for 86th with a 241 (78-85-78).
The overall individual winner was the University of Washington's Paige Mackenzie who finished at eight-under 208 (68-69-71). Rachel Newren of BYU came in second with an even par 216 (71-73-72).
The top eight teams in each of the three regionals advance to the NCAA Championships May 23-26 at Columbus, OH.
