Threesome Leads 49ers at Steve Scott

Heinz, McCoy and Forsythe Pick up Wins IRVINE, CA-- Kim Heinz and Tyler McCoy swept the javelin, Emily Forsythe won the high jump and the 4x400-meter women's relay team also took home a win to highlight the 49ers at the Steve Scott Invite. Katelyn Ciarelli qualified for the NCAA Regional in the discus, falling an inch short of her personal-best with a mark of 158'7" in the discus for third. In the team's final full tuneup prior to the conference championship, three athletes picked up qualifying marks, with Lauren Reimer finishing third to Heinz in the javelin (146'4") with her own throw of 126'5", and then finishing fifth to Emily Forsythe (5'7") in the high jump with a jump of 5'3". It was Reimer's first action of the year. McCoy won with a throw of 192'1". Miia Mobley qualified in the triple jump with a mark of 37'8" for ninth, while Katie Vahoviak was a qualifier in the steeplechase with a personal-best 11:39.63. Vahoviak was eighth, three spots behind Danielle Miller's time of 11:19.36, which placed her fifth. Both marks rank amongst the Big West leaders. Mario Cobian ran a personal-best in the 800-meter (1:51.77) and was second overall, while Armond Goodin also ran a career-best 14.55 in the 110-meter hurdles. Charles Lewis posted the third-fastest 400-meter time, at 48.07. The two men's sprints teams also faired well, with the 4x400-meter finishing second and the 4x100-meter finishing third. Ed Cornell finished second in the discus, at 176'6" and Robert Jennings had two top-five finshes, as he was fifth in the discus (159'8") and fourth in the hammer (183'3"). Both were regional marks, which both athletes have already secured a place. Fellow regional qualifier Jill Reynolds was eighth with a mark of 11'11.75", her second-best pole vault of the season, while Kristina Price was fifth in the shot put, at 42'2".
