Five Niners Set the Standard

Five 49ers Produce Conference Leading Marks LA JOLLA, CA/EUGENE, OR-- Five Long Beach State athletes produced the conference's top marks around the West Coast, with Robert Jennings and Ed Cornell setting personal-best's in the discus, and Jill Reynolds pole vaulting to a best at the Triton Invitational, while Charles Lewis and Jasmine Winfield had the conference's fastst times in the 200m at the Oregon Invite. Jennings' throw of 180'0" was 10th-best at Long Beach State, while Cornell's throw of 178'6" just missed the top-10, as both marks were personal-best's. Reynolds' vault of 12'5.5" was also a personal-best ane one of three wins at the Triton Invite. That mark also tied Christina Lee for second-best all-time. At the Oregon Invitational, Jasmine Winfield and Lewis had personal-best's in the 200-meter. Winfield's time of 24.07 was third overall and fourth-best at Long Beach State, while Lewis' time of 21.45 was fifth overall. Among other top performances in La Jolla, Katie Vahoviak ran the school's third-fastest steeplechase (11:43.62) to finish eighth, while Emily Forsythe won in the high jump (5'7"), and Dylan Jaedtke won the steeplechase (9:24.37). Jesse McLennan scored a Big West qualifying mark in the pole vault (15'2.5"), while John Temidara was third in the high jump with a mark of 6'10.75". |
