Richardson Repeats as Field Athlete of the Week IRVINE, CA-- Long Beach State decathlete Chris Richardson (Downey) was named the Big West Conference's Field Athlete of the Week for the second-straight time after posting an NCAA automatic qualifying mark in the decathlon. The total, 7605, was the 14th-best mark in the world. Richardson's point total not only broke the school-record set in 1990 by Shawn Wilbourn (7148), but also qualified Richardson for the USATF Senior Championships. Richardson is the first 49er decathlete to automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships. At the same meet, Richardson also posted an NCAA regional qualifying mark in the javelin, at 204'3", for the eighth-best toss in 49er history as well. |
