Longoria on Short List of CSTV's Best Player List Infielder Among Eight Candidates Vying for Nation's Top Honor
April 18, 2006 LONG BEACH, CA-- Long Beach State infielder Evan Longoria (Downey) is one of the top four candidates for CSTV's National Player of the Year award, voted on by members of college baseball's internet community.
Longoria, along with fellow Big West member Wes Roemer, are on the television company's website as some of the top players in college baseball this season.
Longoria was named by Baseball America as its top college position player at the midway point of the season, as is expected to be one of the first 10 picks in the upcoming amateur baseball draft. Longoria entered the 2006 season after being named a pre-season first team All-American and earning MVP honors in the Cape Cod League.
Roemer and Longoria will meet up on national television on CSTV on May 26 when the Titans visit Blair Field to close out the regular season.
