Duo Earns Conference Weekly Honors

49ers Sweep Field Athlete of the Week Honors IRVINE, CA-- Thanks to the accomplishments by thrower Kristina Price (Snelling) and decathlete Chris Richardson (Downey), Long Beach State track and field took home both the male and female Field Athlete of the Week honor. For Richardson, he posted the then-sixth-best long jump in the nation at the Big West Challenge to win that event, and then finished in the top-five in three other events, the 110-meter hurdles (15.12), javelin (185'3") and high jump (6'4.75"). He also had a personal-best in the pole vault at 13'2.25". Price swept through the throwing events, winning the shot put (45'2.5"), discus (151'9") and hammer (152'9"). Price's mark in the discus was a season-best. This is the fourth and fifth athlete of the week honors for the program, as Kim Heinz (javelin), John Temidara (high jump) and Ronald Carter (triple jump) were previous recipients. |
