49ers Prepare for U20 National Team LONG BEACH, CA-- The 49er women's soccer team fresh off its best season in school-history at 12-5-3, will travel up the San Diego Freeway on March 20 to the Home Depot Center in Carson to play the U20 Women's National Team at 5 p.m. The exhibition game is likely to be played on the Depot Center's first training field, to the right, as you drive in. The U20's are preparing for this summer's World Championships in Europe and this is one of their training camps for the events. The event is free to the public. The 49ers featured upwards of eight freshmen starting for them this season, including Big West Freshman of the Year Hayley Bolt and fellow freshman All-American Kim Silos. Silos will not play in Monday's exhibition after recovering from a minor post-season injury. This spring will also be the first time that 2004 Junior College Player of the Year, Kristin Childers, plays with the team. Childers led Long Beach City College to a perfect record in her two seasons and enrolled at LBSU during the spring semester. |
