49ers Move Up To 12th at PING/ASU Invitational
Kay Hoey Tied For 32nd Place

TEMPE, AZ-- The Long Beach State women's golf team, which is ranked No. 22 in the nation by both GolfWeek and Golfstat, moved up to 12th place after two rounds of the PING/Arizona State Invitational at the Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, AZ. The 49ers shot a 303 in Saturday's second round, the sixth-best round of the day. Long Beach has a two-round score of 614. No. 2-ranked UCLA leads the tournament with a 577 (282-289). No. 3-ranked Arizona State is second with a 581 (283-298). The PING/ASU Invitational is one of the toughest tournaments in the nation as all 16 teams are ranked in the top 59 teams in the nation. There are four Top 10 teams and 10 teams ranked in the Top 25 in the nation.

Leading the way for the 49ers was sophomore All-American Kay Hoey who is tied for 32nd place after shooting a 75 today for a two-round score of 151 (76-75). Josefine Lindbergh shot a 74 today and is tied for 38th with a 152 (78-74) while Katy Barrett is tied for 50th place with a 155 (78-77). The overall individual leader is Texas A&M's Ashley Knoll who shot a 70 in both rounds for a 140. Tiffany Tavee (Arizona State) and Eileen Vargas (Pepperdine) are tied for second with 141's.

The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Sunday.
