LAS VEGAS, NV-- The No. 20-ranked Long Beach State women's golf team is tied for first place after one round of the 2006 UNLV Spring Invitational in Las Vegas, NV. The 49ers shot a one-over 289 in Monday's opening round. UNLV is in second place at 290 and Fresno State is third with a 294.

Individually, sophomore All-American Kay Hoey is tied for first place after shooting a four-under 68. She is tied with Indiana's Shannon Johnson. Four players are tied for third place with a two-under 70, including the 49ers Beth Holtermann.

The tournament continues with 18 holes on Tuesday and concludes with 18 holes on Wednesday.
