Crimes Earns AVCA All-America Honorable Mention and
All-West Region Honors LEXINGTON, KY -- Junior Alexis Crimes of the Long Beach State women’s volleyball team was selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s Honorable Mention All-America list on Wednesday, Dec. 13. On Dec. 6, Crimes was selected to the AVCA All-West Region Team. This was the second straight season that Crimes landed a spot on the Honorable Mention list. She was a third team All-American her freshman year. This was also the third straight season that Crimes has landed a spot on AVCA All-West Region Team. She joined Nichelle Burton, Tara Cross, Misty May, Danielle Scott, Cheryl Weaver, and Antoinnette White as the only other recipients in program history to earn all-region honors three or more times. Crimes (Rancho Cucamonga) had one of her best seasons in a 49er uniform, posting 3.77 kills and 1.39 blocks per game. The four-time Big West Player of the Week selection also became the 13th player in school history to record 1,000 or more kills when she accomplished that feat on Oct. 3 vs. CS Northridge. Crimes registered a season-high 21 kills to go along with 10 blocks vs. UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 29, and posted a season-high 12 blocks vs. UNLV on Sept. 15. Long Beach State finished the 2006 season with a 26-6 record. The 49ers defeated Pepperdine 3-1 in the NCAA Tournament, before falling to Hawaii in the second round. 2006 AVCA All-West Region Team
