Perry Named Academic All-District LONG BEACH, CA-- Long Beach State defender Amandy Perry (Fresno) was named to the second team of CoSIDA's Academic All-District team following a 4.0 cumulative GPA as a kinesiology major. Perry, who walked onto the team and was among an initial group of 50 players during Head Coach Mauricio Ingrassia's first day of practice in 2004, has played in 51 career matches over three seasons. She has started 25 games in her career. Perry, one of the team's veteran defenders, has been a part of record breaking defenses over the last two years. Thanks to a school-record 13 shutouts this season, and a previous-best of 11 last year, the 49er defense has compiled 31 shutouts over the last three seasons. This year's team, at a school-best, 14-4-1, will host the four-team Big West Tournament starting on November 3 in Long Beach. The 49ers are the top seed, with the winner, crowned Sunday starting at 1 p.m. going to the 64 team NCAA Tournament. |
