This Week: The Long Beach State women's golf team will head to the Pacific Northwest next Monday through Wednesday to compete at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at the Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Washington. The 49ers have been off since September 19 when they finished in third place at the Oregon State Invitational. This is the third of four fall events for the 49er women.
The Coach: Sue Ewart is in her 11th year as the head coach of the 49er women's golf team. The 49ers advanced to their first-ever NCAA Regional appearance in 2006 and finished in second place in the Big West Conference.
Ewart On Edean Ihlanfeldt: "Competition qualifying was intense for the Edean Ihlanfeldt. Typically our toughest venue, the difficult and demanding Sahalee Country Club and a field of Top 30 teams in the country, there will be no letting up and the team will have to stay focused and fight hard for every shot they make. This is the type of course that is demanding mentally, but is so satisfying once you post a solid score. The team is hitting the ball very solid and their short games have improved. We're looking to improve over last year's seventh place finish, which was a coup for us as we'd never broken through the Top 10 at this event."
Travel Squad For Edean Ihlanfeldt: As of Friday, the travel squad for next week's tournament will consist of: Katy Barrett, Brenda Chhuor, Kay Hoey, Beth Holtermann, and Josefine Lindbergh.
