Bolt Honored Nationally by Soccer Buzz and Soccer America NEW YORK/BERKELEY-- Long Beach State midfielder Hayley Bolt (Lakewood/Los Alamitos HS) used her head to place herself on Soccer Buzz and Soccer America's National Teams of the Week following the game-winning assist (using her head) and game-winning header on the opening weekend of Big West play last week. Bolt, a freshman All-American last season, currently leads the Big West in goals (five) and ranks in the top-five in conference points (12). The Beach are on a 10-2-0 pace to start the season and more importantly, are 2-0-0 in Big West play as they head to UC Santa Barbara on Friday and Cal Poly on Sunday. Bolt's heady pass along with a goal on September 29 led the 49ers to a 2-0 victory over Pacific, while her header in the 69th minute on Sunday gave The Beach a perfect start to conference play and first place finish, following a 3-2 victory over CS Northridge. Bolt earned her first weekly award on Monday when she was named Big West Player of the Week. The 49ers return home on October 11 to take on nationally-ranked Fresno State. |
