RIVERSIDE, CA – Dyanne Lawlor had 13 kills and the Long Beach State women's volleyball team extended its win streak to six in a row with a 3-0 win at UC Riverside on Saturday night in the Student Recreation Center. Game Scores were 30-15, 30-24, 30-24. Long Beach State improved to 16-4, 6-1 Big West, while UC Riverside fell to 2-19, 0-9. Alexis Crimes chipped in with 11 kills for a .474 attack percentage, while Mischa Hasalikova checked in with 11 kills for a .476 clip. Talaya Whitfield had 11 digs and LBSU hit .289 for the match. Dominique Cowling had 10 kills for UCR in the losing effort. Long Beach State used a consistent offensive attack and came away with a 30-15 game one victory. LBSU built a 10-5 lead after a Hasalikova kill and pushed its lead to 25-11 after a UCR attack error. Consecutive kills by Crimes and another Highlander attack error ended the stanza. Long Beach State hit a blistering .378 in the frame (18-4-37), and got five kills from Crimes. The 49ers recovered from a sluggish start in game two and pulled away late for the 30-24 victory. The Highlanders owned a 6-3 lead after a Janiece Manuel kill, before the 49ers went on 7-2 run to take a 10-8 lead, courtesy of a Hasalikova kill. The 49ers extended their lead to nine (24-15) after a Mariko Crum kill, and closed out UCR on a Lawlor kill. LBSU closed out the Highlanders, 30-24 in the final frame. The 49ers return to action when they travel to Cal Poly on Friday, Oct. 27.
