Hawaii, Weber State End in Draw
LONG BEACH, CA-- The University of Hawaii (2-2-1), despite six shots in overtime, tied Weber State (1-3-1) 0-0 on the second day of the 49er Classic, hosted by Long Beach State. Hawaii's Koren Takeyama had a chance to break the tie in 97th minute, but her shot on just in front of the goal, veered left and kept the game scoreless. Weber State had its own opportunity late in the contest, as a shot by Sarah Cortez in the 86th went wide left of the net. Hayley McCoy, who had five of the Rainbow Wahine's 14 shots, missed opportunites in the 41st and 68th minutes, both which were saved by Wildcat goalie Kanice Kolar, who made four saves. WSU had the advantantage in regulation, tallying 16 of its 18 shots over the first 90 minutes of play, as Hawaii goalie Kori Lu made six shots on the day. Long Beach State and Hawaii conclude the 49er Classic on Monday with a contest at 5 p.m. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
