Beach Picked Third in the Big West

49ers Picked to Finish Third in Big West IRVINE, CA-- The pre-season momentum continues. Not only did Long Beach State women's soccer receive its first-ever first place vote in a pre-season poll, they are also slated to be in third place in the Big West Conference, the team's highest pre-season predicition. The Beach received 42 total points, tying them with UC Santa Barbara for third place, according to the conference's coaches. Cal Poly is the pre-season favorite with two first place votes, while CS Fullerton received four first place votes and 54 total points. The 49ers, who boast the 15th-best recruiting class in the country, were one of four programs to receive a first place vote. The Titans, Mustangs and 49ers also each received regional recognition in soccerbuzz.com's pre-season West Regional rankings. Rounding out the eight conference schools are: CS Northridge (30 points), Pacific (29), UC Riverside (21) and UC Irvine (13). The 49ers went 6-9-3 last year, despite winning two in-season tournaments, and finished in eighth place in the Big West at 6-9-2. BIG WEST WOMEN'S SOCCER |
