49ers Begin Practice on Thursday LONG BEACH, CA-- The anticipation is over. Long Beach State women's soccer, featuring the nation's 15th-best recruiting class of 14 newcomers and another 13 returning lettermen, will begin practice on Thursday. The team will participate in double days from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at George Allen Field. For the first time in school-history last week, soccerbuzz.com featured the 49ers in its pre-season regional poll. Though they were one of three teams "receiving votes", it is the first time in the program's seven years it has received any national recognition, following its successful recruiting class. The Beach has a busy pre-season, featuring a black and gold scrimmage on August 14 at 11 a.m., the team's Golden Goal Fundraiser on August 19 in The Walter Pyramid, a scrimmage with Azusa Pacific on August 20 and an alumnae game on August 21 at 11 a.m. The the whirlwind continues with the season opener at No. 3-ranked UCLA on August 24 at 7 p.m. |
