49ers Recruiting Class Fourth-Best in the West 2005 Prospectus (PDF) NEW YORK, NY-- In a jam-packed West Coast, it's no surprise that a Portland, Santa Clara or even a UCLA in mentioned when talking about women's soccer. Long Beach State may soon be in that group, as the program, which already has the 15th-best recruiting class in the country, featured the fourth-best recruiting class in the West Region and the top recruiting class in the Big West Conference, according to Soccerbuzz.com. The 49ers are the first school to ever hit the Top-25 in soccerbuzz.com's recruiting watch list without first having at least one prior nationally ranked in the top-100. With four top-100 recruits, the 49ers are one of just six programs with at least that many recruits coming into next season. Of those six, just Long Beach State has never reached an NCAA Tournament, as four were ranked in top-20 in soccerbuzz.com's final 2004 poll. The 49ers will open its season at UCLA, who features the second-best recruiting class in the West on August 26, and have its home opener on August 30 against San Jose State. The Beach will also host the second annual Golden Goal Fundraiser to kickoff the season on August 19. Season tickets and fundraiser tickets can be purchased online at www.longbeachstate.com |
