Recruiting Class Ranked 15th Nationally NEW YORK, NY-- For the first time in school-history, not only does Long Beach State women's soccer have four of the top-100 prep recruits in the country, including two in the top-50, the 49ers overall recruiting class is ranked 15th nationally and is the fourth-highest on the West Coast. Prior to this class, LBSU has never had a recruit make this list. "I'm excited about the players coming in," said Head Coach Mauricio Ingrassia, who just finished off his first year at The Beach. "I just want August to be here tomorrow. There are some quality players in this group, who can make the jump to Division-I and help our program right away." Soccer Buzz, a website devoted to collegiate women's soccer, annually puts out its list of top-100 recruits, of which defender Sara Baca (Ventura, CA/Buena HS) and midfielder Kim Silos (Ontario/Don Lugo HS) are ranked in the top-50. Another pair, midfielder Hayley Bolt (Lakewood/Los Alamitos HS) and forward Sahar Haghdan (Palmdale/Highlands HS) were ranked in the top-100. All of the players signed National Letters of Intent in February. Baca recently was named the Ventura County Star's Player of the Year after leading the Bulldogs to the CIF Southern Sectional title. Baca was the Southern Sectional's Defensive Player of the Year and was a two-time first team All-CIF performer. She was also a part of the Olympic Development teams in 2004 and 2005. Silos was a two-time second team All-CIF selection at Don Lugo, who was also a two-time U.S. Youth All-American. Silos has been a part of the ODP program since 2003, as she teamed with Baca to help win the 2004 National Championship. Both players played for the Arsenal Club Team. Bolt was also an All-CIF selections, while Haghdan along with Silos and Baca were all league MVPs. SOCCER BUZZ TOP-25 RECRUITING CLASSES |
