Hollans Named BWC Player of the Week

Hollans Earns Second POW Award IRVINE, CA-- Senior guard Aisha Hollans (Berkeley/Berkeley HS/USC) was named the Big West Conference's Player of the Week for the second time this season after averaging 20.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game last week in Long Beach State's two road wins. The conference's fifth-leading scorer came through with her eighth and ninth double doubles of the season, firing off 18 points and 12 rebounds at UC Riverside on Thursday followed by 23 points and 15 rebounds at CS Fullerton on Saturday night. Overall, Hollans is averaging 16.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game to go along with a 46 percent shooting percentage, all averages that rank in top-10 in the conference. The Beach, 15-6 overall and tied for second in the Big West at 10-3, have currently won 11 of their last 13, and will travel to UC Irvine on Thursday. Three weeks remain in the regular season prior to the Big West Tournament beginning on March 9. |
