Long Beach State Inks Two Recruits

Long Beach State men's volleyball head coach, Alan Knipe, announced that student athletes, Connor Eaton and Tommy Pestolesi, have both signed National Letters-of-Intent to enroll at Long Beach State for the 2006-07 season.

Eaton (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA/Rancho Santa Margarita HS) won a silver medal at the Junior Olympics last summer in Louisville, KY. The 6-1 setter played on the Balboa Bay Club team in Newport Beach, and was on the youth A2 National Team for USA Volleyball. "Connor is a very talented setter, with excellent location," explained Knipe. "He does a good job of running a fast paced offense. He is a very good competitor and does a good job of making the players around him better."

Pestolesi (Huntington Beach, CA/Edison HS) trained with the USA Youth National Team in the summer of 2004 and 2005. The 6-6 outside hitter also played for the Surf City Volleyball Club in Huntington Beach. His father, Tom, played two years for Long Beach State (1979-80) and his grandfather, Bob, was the Dean of the school's KPE Department and is a member of the Long Beach State Athletic Hall of Fame. "Tommy has a lot of versatility to his game at outside or opposite," said Knipe. "He has a lot of range as a hitter and he has the ability to be a really good blocker. He has made huge strides over the last 12 months."
