Longoria Top Prospect for 2006 Draft DURHAM, NC--Bobby Crosby, Jeremy Reed, Jered Weaver, Troy Tulowitzki, and now Evan Longoria. Longoria (Downey), the current Long Beach State Dirtbag infielder, is rated as the 10th-best prospect for the 2006 Amateur Draft, according to Baseball America. Longoria should not disappoint, as he was the third-best prospect out of the Cape Cod League following MVP honors at second base, batting .299 with a league-best eight homers and 35 RBIs. Longoria, who is most likely going to start at third in 2006, also played short last season and during his freshman season at Rio Hondo Junior College. He batted .320 with a team-best 30 RBIs for the Dirtbags in 2005. All four players mentioned previously, saw their stocks rise thanks to strong summers for Team USA. Crosby, was named Honkbal Tournament MVP distancing himself from a star-studded team featuring future Big Leaguers Mark Teixeira, Chris Burke and Mark Prior; Reed led Team USA in hitting in 2001; Weaver was named the Player of the Summer in 2002; and Tulowitzki, a starter for the national team in 2003, led the club in homers.
