Ciarelli Named Junior USATF All-American

Ciarelli Earns Junior USATF All-America Status COLLEGE STATION, TX-- Long Beach State freshman Katelyn Ciarelli (Huntington Beach/Huntington Beach HS) was named a Junior U.S.A.Track and Field All-American after finishing sixth in the discus with a throw of 151'9.25". Ciarelli, who had finished seventh at the Big West Championships in mid-May, had the third-longest distance of any collegian at the Under-19 Championships. Ciarelli got the mark on her final throw of the afternoon. Fellow freshman Kristina Price (Merced), finished in 14th place with a toss of 132'10.75". On Saturday, freshman Charles Lewis reached the Finals of the 400-meter, winning his heat, but finishing just out of All-America consideration, finishing ninth with a time of 48.51. Jessica Branker did not make the finals of the 100-meter. On Sunday, Price finished in 15th place in the shot put with a throw of 37'11.75". |
