Win Streak Snapped on Friday Night

SANTA BARBARA, CA – The No. 1-ranked (Volleyball Magazine/No. 3 AVCA) Long Beach State men's volleyball team fell to the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos, 3-0, in an MPSF match at the Robertson Gym on Friday night. Game scores were 30-24, 30-27, 31-29.

Long Beach State fell to 14-4, 9-3 MPSF, while UCSB improved to 10-6, 6-5 MPSF. The loss snapped the both the seven-match win streak, and the 21-game winning streak.

Robert Tarr led the 49ers with 15 kills, while Jeff Wootton and Duncan Budigner added nine kills each. David Lee chipped in with seven kills, while Nate Hagstrom registered a season-high three aces. Tyler Hildebrand netted 44 assists, two kills, and two blocks. Evan Patak recorded a match-high 20 kills for UCSB.

The Gauchos registered a .424 attack percentage (56-14-99), and out-blocked the 49ers 13.5-8.5.

Long Beach State finished the month of February with a 7-1 record. They begin the second half of their MPSF schedule on March 5 versus Pepperdine at the Goldmine.
