Beach Travels to Seattle for MPSF

49ers Travel to Seattle for MPSF LONG BEACH, CA--The Beach track and field team will travel 17 athletes to the MPSF Indoor Championships this weekend. The meet will be held at the University of Washington on Friday, February 27 to Saturday, February 28. "Our main goal of this meet is to qualify athletes for the NCAA Championships," said Head Coach Andy Sythe. "Serena Boykin, Emily Forsythe, and John Temidara will contend for a chance to go to the championship meet." Representing the men's side will be Josh Campbell, Ronald Carter, Brady Douglas, Haben Hagos, Charles Lewis, Robert Nelson, Shingo Suzumura, Dan Trautner, and John Temidara. Temidara (6'10.75" and 48'00.50") and Hagos (6'06.75" and 48'04.00") are both double qualifiers in the triple and high jump. Carter (48'02.00" and 22'05.25") will be competing in the triple and long jump. Nelson will be competing in the long jump and has a best of 23'02.75" this season, while Trautner (6'06.75") will compete in the high jump. Charles Lewis and Brady Douglas will both compete in 200m and 400m races. Lewis has season bests of 22.12 in the 200m and 48.11 in the 400m. Brady's bests for the season are 21.96 in the 200m and 49.55 in the 400m. Campbell (1:54.41) will represent the distance team, running in the 800m race. Representing the women's team will be Serena Boykin, Emily Forsythe, Megan Irey, Holly Lipscomb, Gina Londono, Aroline Neal, Kristina Price, and Jasmine Tolbert. Boykin, already an NCAA provsional qualifier and school-record holder in the shot put (50'00.50"), will look to improve her mark in an effort to reach the National Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas March 12-13. Price, who set the freshman indoor-record in the shot put (44'11") will also compete. Forsythe, who just missed an NCAA qualifying mark in the high jump (5'09.75") at the Mt. T. Invitational, will also look to improve her best jump and qualify for the NCAA Championships. Londono, who set the indoor school-record in the 60m hurdles (8.87) will look to drop her time and improve her school-record. Irey (38'06.50"), Tolbert (38'03.25"), and Lipscomb (37'00.50") will all compete in the triple jump. Lipscomb will also compete in the long jump (17'08.25") along with Neal (17'11.00"). "Both our men's and women's triple jumpers have the potential to place high and score points for the team," siad Sythe."We hope to see school-records fall and will look to improve on our rank coming into the meet." This will be the final meet in which the athletes can qualify for the NCAA Championships.
