Gimmillaro to be Honored This Saturday 19th Year Head Coach to Receive Prestigious Honor from USA Volleyball
August 28, 2003 LONG BEACH, CA -- 19th year head coach Brian Gimmillaro, of the Long Beach State women's volleyball team, will be honored Saturday, Aug. 30 with the USA Volleyball All-Time Great Coach Award, at The Pyramid.
The presentation will take place prior to the Long Beach State-Texas match-up at 7:30 p.m. School President, Dr. Robert C. Maxson is scheduled to present the award. It is one of the highest honors a coach can receive from USA Volleyball.
Gimmillaro has compiled a 510-110 career record entering the 2003 season, with an impressive resume that includes: three national championships, eight conference crowns, and 17 NCAA post-season tournaments. In 1998, Gimmillaro led his team to a perfect 36-0 record, which was the first undefeated team in NCAA women's volleyball history.
Gimmillaro has also coached some of the best volleyball players in NCAA history as well, including Misty May, Tara Cross-Battle, and Danielle Scott. All three players were named as National Players of the Year, and all represented the United States in past Olympics.
The 2003 season begins August 29 versus Texas-Arlington at 7:30 p.m. in The Pyramid. |
