49ers Fall to SUU 60-59 in Final Seconds LONG BEACH, CA--Long Beach State (1-5) fell to Southern Utah (4-4) 60-59 in a non-conference game Saturday night at The Pyramid. SUU's Rand Janes drained a three-pointer with 23 seconds left in the game to seal the win for Southern Utah. Kevin Roberts had a season-high 22 points while senior Marcel Jackson had a career-high 12 points. The 49ers looked as if they would come away with a win as Roberts followed a Jackson missed lay-up giving The Beach a two-point lead, 59-57, with 37.7 seconds remaining. Janes' three proved to be the winning basket as the 49ers could not convert a shot in the final seconds of the game. Roberts led The Beach with 10 rebounds, his first double-double of the year, while Jibril Hodges picked up five steals and seven points. The 49ers shot 37% from the field and committed 14 turnovers. Jason Baker led SUU with 26 points, going 3-for-4 from beyond the three-point line and 9-9 at the charity stripe. DeAngelo Newsom led Southern Utah with six rebounds.
