Beach Signs Jazz Henderson
November 17, 2003 LONG BEACH, CA-- Long Beach State men's basketball coach Larry Reynolds announced today the signing of Gazmine "Jazz" Henderson to a National Letter-Of-Intent to attend LBSU next season. Henderson (G, 6-2, 180) hails from Dallas, TX and is a sophomore this season at Eastfield College in Mesquite, TX.
"Jazz is a tremendous scorer," said Reynolds. "He can play as a combo guard, at either the point guard spot or at the two-guard. We look forward to him adding to our already strong backcourt."
Last year at Eastfield, Henderson averaged 20.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game. A first team All-Metro Athletic Conference selection, he also earned first team Region V honors. Henderson shot .790 from the free throw line and .360 from 3-point range. He was named the Freshman of the Year in the Metro Athletic Conference as Eastfield finished the season at 18-12. This season Henderson has been named a pre-season All-American by several publications. Eastfield is currently ranked #9 in the country in the NJCAA Division III poll. Henderson prepped at Spruce High School in Dallas. |
