Beach Begins Basketball Practice on Saturday
Women Kick Things Off At 9 am In The Pyramid

LONG BEACH, CA-- The Long Beach State men's and women's basketball teams will hold their first official practice on Saturday, October 18 in The Pyramid. The 49er women, under new head coach Mary Hegarty, kick things off at 9 am Saturday morning and will practice until noon. The 49er men, under second-year head coach Larry Reynolds, will practice from 12-3 pm.

Coach Hegarty welcomes nine letterwinners off last years squad, led by seniors Jennifer Baker (Riverdale, MD), and Lauren Bull (Rockford, IL) and junior All-Big West selection Candice Wilson (Sacramento, CA). Redshirt Petra Glaser (Amisberg, Germany), a transfer from UNLV, will also be counted on heavily this season.

The 49er men are led by senior Kevin Roberts (Petaluma, CA) and All-Big West Freshman Team performer Jibril Hodges (Park Forest, IL). Reynolds is looking forward to exciting play from incoming freshman Travon Free (Compton, CA - Dominguez HS), Lucian Graham (Houston, TX) Kevin Houston (Highland, CA - San Gorgonio HS) and Kevin Crockett (Long Beach, CA - Wilson HS), as well as junior transfer Anthony Coleman (Carson, CA - Centennial HS).
