49ERS MOVE TO 3-0 IN THE BIG WEST Johnson Leads with 24 points, Wilson Adds 18 Points MOSCOW, ID-- Long Beach State women's basketball (6-8, 3-0 BWC) remained undefeated in the Big West with a 73-61 victory over host Idaho (4-10, 2-3 BWC). Glory Johnson led The Beach with 24 points on 11-of-14 shooting, while Candice Wilson added 18 points and a career-tying nine assists on 7-of-9 shooting. Freshman wing Deja Blevins (Atlanta, GA) left the game with under a minute left in the first half, landing awkwardly on her left knee underneath her own basket. Blevins is listed as day-to-day. Heather Toelke led the Vandals with 16 points, including four three-pointers, while Keisha Moore had 19 points and 11 rebounds, including seven offensive boards. LBSU shot 48% for the game, including 50% in the second half, compared to UI's 38% clip. The 49ers final answer against the Vandals came at 1:40, when Lauren Bull's three--three of her nine points--put LBSU up 64-57, after Idaho had pulled to within 61-57. The 49ers seemed to always have an answer for each Vandal comeback, going up 61-52 on a Johnson layup with 5:09 left. Idaho had cut the lead to four with under eight minutes left. Idaho chipped away at the 49er 10-point lead, as two free throws by Alyssa Erickson cut the LBSU lead to 53-49 with 7:45 left. The Beach had led 47-37, as part of a 7-0 run, on a Wilson steal and layup with 13:47 left. The Beach would take a 30-27 lead at the half, as the 49ers shot 45%, compared to a 40% clip by Idaho. Idaho scored eight unanswered points to take a 27-26 lead with 2:35 left on a Toelke jumper from the free throw line. LBSU went up 26-19, thanks to a Blevins jumper at 5:22, after Candice Wilson converted two straight layups off steals in the Vandal backcourt. Idaho had closed to within 20-19, scoring five straight points. Jennifer Baker's jumper at 8:04 gave LBSU a 20-14 lead.
