MEXICAN NATIONALS EDGE LBSU 2-1 Rewoldt Gives Beach Lead, Mexico Scores Twice to Win
LONG BEACH, CA-- The Mexican National team edged host Long Beach State 2-1 in an exhibition womens soccer match on Thursday, scoring two quick goals in the 65th minute.
The Beach took a 1-0 lead in the second half as Marcia Rewoldt came down the right side and launched a shot from 25 yards out. The ball hit the upper crossbar and gave LBSU a one-goal advantage at 46:30. The 49ers held on to the lead until the 65th minute.
Mexico then put scored twice in the 65th minute, as Iris Mora took a pass from Maria de Jesus Castillo from the left side and tied the game at 1-1 at 64:50. Forty-four seconds later, Maribel Dominguez took a pass from Mora and scored from straight out at 65:34.
The first half saw a defensive draw as the 49ers allowed the Mexican National Team to take just one shot on goal over the first 45 minutes.
