GAMET'S FIRST CARER GOAL, GIVES BEACH TIE 49ers Tie Oregon State, 1-1
LONG BEACH, CA-- Sarah Gamets (El Cajon) comeback goal in the 84th minute gave the Long Beach State womens soccer team (0-4-1) an eventual 1-1 tie over Pac-10 foe Oregon State (2-1-1) on Friday afternoon. It was the seniors first goal of her career.
Gamet scored the tying goal at 84:11 off after Abie Currys (Chico) shot deflected off of goalie Jo Fletcher (Malpas, England). The play was set up after senior Becky Ricci (San Diego) crossed the ball in front of the net.
Oregon State took the first lead of the ballgame, 1-0, at 52:05, as Stacey Mescher (Mission Viejo) sent a cross from Katie Henderson (Littleton, CO) into the left corner.
The 49ers outshot OSU, 19 to 10, including 10 shots on goal. OSU managed just four shots on goal, three coming in the first half.
The Beach are next in action on Sunday when they travel to San Diego at 1 p.m. The Beavers travel up the coast to UC Santa Barbara on Sunday at 1 p.m.
