O'Neil will compete against 18 other competitors in both events, including teammate junior Cory Loebl, in the discus. On the women's side, sophomore Connie Jerz will compete in her fourth NCAA Championship, as her school-record breaking pole vault of 13'5.25" currently ranks 11th in the country. Eighteen other athletes qualified for the vault. Freshman Emily Forsythe inched her way into the national high jump championships with a height of 5'10.50". Forsythe's mark ranks 22nd of 22 competitors in the field. Forsythe continues the tradition of Long Beach State high jumpers at the NCAA Championships, following Tayyiba Haneef, who graduated last year. |
