McAnulty Keys Two, 2-Out Rallys, Eisentrager 7.0 Strong Innings May 11, 2002 NORTHRIDGE, CA-- Paul McAnulty came through with two key, two-out hits while Daniel Eisentrager (8-3) pitched 7.0 strong innings in leading the Dirtbags (30-18, 11-6 Big West) to the series win over first place CS Northridge (35-15, 15-5 Big West), winning Saturday, 7-2. The Beach had entered the series, losers of eight of their last 13, before back-to-back wins over the No. 15-ranked Matadors. On Friday, LBSU came through with five RBIs, with two outs, leading to a 15-3 win. In Saturday's contest with two outs in the sixth and CSUN leading 2-1, McAnulty started the Dirtbags rally with a single. Nick Covarrubias was hit by Cameron Loe's (4-3) pitch before Chris Wright walked to load the bases. Brad Davis then followed with a two-run double followed by an RBI single by Mike Hofius to give LBSU a 4-2 lead. After The Beach sent eight men to the plate in the sixth, with two outs in the seventh, McAnulty launched his team-best eighth homer to right center, scoring Kevin Randel to give LBSU a 6-2 lead. McAnulty has now driven in nine runs over the last three games. Meanwhile, Eisentrager pitched 7.0 strong innings, giving up just two runs on six hits, striking out six. It was the longest outing for Eisentrager since March 28, when the righty went 8.0 innings at Sacramento State. Chris Demaria pitched the final shutout innings. McAnulty, Nick Orlandos and Chris Wright each led The Beach with two hits. For the 14th-straight season, Long Beach State has won 30 games.
