Eisentrager Pitches 7.0 Strong Innings; Season-High 15 Hits March 15, 2002 RIVERSIDE, CA-- The No. 25-ranked 49ers (12-6, 2-0 BWC) picked up their fifth win in a row, defeating UC Riverside (15-9, 0-2 BWC) 9-2 in a balanced attack in which every Dirtbag had a hit and five players had RBIs. The Beach racked out a season-high 15 hits on the day, breaking the game open with seven runs over the final three innings. Mike Hofius, Brad Davis, Todd Jennings, Paul McAnulty and Nick Covarrubias each had two hits, while Hofius, Davis and Orlandos each drove in two runs. Daniel Eisentrager (4-1) pitched 7.0 innings, giving up two runs on six hits while striking out six, coming back after giving up five runs in 3.0 innings last week against Arizona. Julio Fernandez (2-3) pitched into the seventh, going 6.1 innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on eight hits, walking five and striking out four. Chris Demaria struck out the side in the ninth. The Beach broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth with an RBI single off the bat of Paul McAnulty. LBSU added to the lead in the seventh with three runs to lead 5-1. Jeremy Reed scored Kevin Randel with an RBI double down the leftfield line, followed by an RBI single from Todd Jennings. The 49ers final run of the inning was off an RBI groundout from Brad Davis. The 49ers scored four times in the ninth, Davis had an RBI single, followed by a Hofius two-run triple and a sacrifice fly by Nick Orlandos.
