Chris Wright Drives in Five For 49ers February 16, 2002 BERKELEY, CA-- The No. 21-ranked 49ers (4-1) picked up their second straight win over the California Golden Bears (4-6), defeating Cal 9-0 at Evans Diamond on Saturday. Chris Wright went 2-for-5 with five RBIs, including a three-run homer in the eighth inning, while Jeremy Reed and Todd Jennings added two hits a piece. In the series, the 49ers pitching staff have allowed just one run over the first two games. LBSU starter Daniel Eisentrager (2-0) pitched the first 6.0 innings, giving up no runs on five hits while striking out three.Eisentrager worked out of a bases loaded, no out jam in the fifth with a called strike three on Brad Smith and a double play ball off the bat of David Nicholson. The 49ers scored three times in the third inning to lead 3-0. Nick Orlandos' bases loaded sacrifice fly to right scored the first run, followed by an RBI infield single by Chris Wright. Nick Covarrubias then had an RBI groundout to make it 3-0. The Beach added two more runs in the fourth inning, to lead 5-0, both with two outs. Jeremy Reed had an RBI single to center, while Chris Wright drove in his second run of the day with a bases loaded hit by pitch. Todd Jennings RBI single in the fourth gave LBSU a 6-0 lead. Wright's homer in the eighth gave LBSU a 9-0 lead. Cal starter RHP Brian Montalbo (0-2) gave up six runs on seven hits in his 5.0 innings of work.
