November 6, 2002 IRVINE, CA-- The Long Beach State women's basketball team was picked to finish third in both the media and coaches poll, while the men's team was picked to finished tied for sixth in the coaches poll and seventh in the media poll at the Big West Conference Media Day at the Irvine Marriott. The women's team, with 112 points in the media poll and 46 points in the coaches poll, was picked to finish behind UC Santa Barbara and Pacific. Dallas Bolla enters her eighth season with The Beach. On the men's side, the 49ers under first-year Head Coach Larry Reynolds, received 39 points to tie with CS Fullerton for sixth in the coaches poll, and 114 points for seventh place in the media poll. The men open the season Friday with an exhibition against CS San Bernardino, while the women will play in an exhibition against Love and Basketball on November 17. MEDIA POLLS MEN 1.
